Course Description - Summer Camp

The residence course will be an ideal choice for you if you want to spend as much time as possible with your fellow students and if you’re looking forward to afternoons full of activity and sports in our Summer Camp in Oberwesel (Rhine Valley). You are going to stay in a residence for young people that will be reserved for you and your course mates. Our staff will look after you 24 hour a day and make sure that you feel at home in Thuringia. With 24 or 28 lessons per week you’ll be making fast progress and can practice German intensively.

The Residence

Nowhere else can one find such a wealth of historic palaces and castles in such close proximity as in the Mid-Rhine Valley, where Germany’s most famous river winds narrowly through the slate mountain range. On craggy rock cliffs, restored castles and tumbledown fortresses overhang romantic hamlets, appearing to be one with the surrounding landscape. The great beauty and diversity of the upper Mid-Rhine Valley is one of the reasons the area was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the Oberwesel residence course location, a medieval knight’s castle, decorative half-timbered homes and an impressive old city wall unite to create a unique cultural space.

Our residential facility, in which our international course participants live and daily language instruction takes place, sits above the picturesque Rhine village of Oberwesel directly next to the medieval Schönburg Castle. Participants are housed in comfortable 4-bed rooms, each with its own shower and toilet. In addition to the facility’s own indoor swimming pool, our residence offers a variety of sport and leisure time activities, including an athletics field for soccer, volleyball and basketball, a barbeque area for grilling with covered enclosures, table tennis, foosball, pin-ball machines and billiards. Daytrips include visiting the Loreley, and the cities of Koblenz, Bingen, Rüdesheim and Mainz.

Hereafter you will find more photos of our course location Oberwesel and a YouTube-Video.
